Pretenders singer talks about her beloved Akron, redeveloping urban downtowns and her new restaurant.

Standing outside the work-in-progress that will soon be her new restaurant, Akron native Chrissie Hynde said little about her own venture at a news conference Thursday, but offered up an impassioned speech about revitalizing her hometown.

“My blood is Akron, and it courses through my veins,” said the leader of rock band The Pretenders. “I’m such a Buckeye.”
